Music Revival in Athens
Release Athens is a music festival held at the Water Square of the Faliro Olympic Complex in Athens. It began in 2016 and is held annually. It has become the most important music events in Athens and across Greece, taking place mainly at Plateia Nerou, a beautiful open-air venue right by the sea, just minutes from downtown Athens. With extroversion and optimism as its main mottos against the turbulent times in which the festival was born, Release Athens rejuvenated the local entertainment scene, believing in the liberating power of music – from which it takes its name.
Bringing Subcultures Together
Art direction at Release Athens Festival is a process that requires a passion for creation, coordination and collaboration with the marketing team. It also demands problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure. At the same time, as the art director, I must listen to the pulse of the festival audience and combine different subcultures to create a unique experience for each viewer. The requirements encompass a comprehensive 360-degree plan for each year of the festival, both offline and online. This plan includes the creation of key visuals for each year, strategic direction in terms of visuals and communication, and the execution of numerous visuals for social media, digital and print campaigns.
United Rhythms
The objective is to create a single, uniform and innovative visual communication language that highlights the festival’s atmosphere and marries diverse musical cultures. As an art director, I am responsible for executing all stages of visual design from concept to final delivery, capturing personalised content and optimising the user experience in interactive communications.
Creating a Unified Voice
A key focus is collaborating with other departments to ensure coherent messaging and maintain consistency across all marketing channels. Starting my collaboration with the festival in November of 2021, we will continue to raise the bar to create a renewed and even better experience for the audience. Evolution, expertise and passion for design are key ingredients in achieving a successful result. Release Athens Festival serves as a canvas for endless creation utilising the principles of applied arts and visual communication.
